Educators’ Perspectives on Factors Impacting STEM Achievement in Rural Indigenous Student-Serving Schools

This study addressed the question, “What factors do experts perceive as impacting STEM achievement of students in rural schools with predominantly Indigenous students?” A thematic analysis interviews 40 educators a depth experience identified six major themes: holistic education, inclusion local culture highly qualified staff, curriculum and instruction, technology, funding. These themes were interrelated. Holistic education demanded more individualized required staff who could adapt integrate technology traditional knowledge, but these harder to hire retain due low It is emphasized that efforts raise attending should be embedded within consideration larger system, including academic, emotional, cultural experiences financial, technological human resources available.
